Elective and urgent referrals are accepted for the management of paediatric general surgical, urological, transplantation, burns and neonatal conditions. Patients have the choice of being seen in the Department, in the surgeons' rooms or in the Outpatients Department

The Department of Surgery at the CHW provides a range of district, tertiary and quaternary general surgery services to children from local, metropolitan, regional and rural areas. This includes:
• General surgery
• Urology
• Transplant
• Trauma
• Neonatal surgery
• Training – SET/medical students

The Department of Surgery at the CHW (the Department) operates three teams. These are:
A – Urology and General Surgery
B – Transplant, Trauma and General Surgery
C – Burns and General Surgery

The core business of the Department consists of surgical outpatient clinics, emergency consultations and elective surgery. As well the Department provides after hours and emergency surgical services for children presenting to the Emergency Department, transferred from other hospitals and inpatients of the hospital.
