The Governor-General visits Sydney Children’s Hospital

The Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove visited Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick on the eve of World Cancer Day to acknowledge the significant medical contributions made in the fight against cancer.

The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove toured the Hospital’s oncology ward, C2West, with Director of the Kids Cancer Centre, Prof Tracey O’Brien and Director of Nursing, Sally Whalen. The group met with patients and families, and even took part in a celebratory song as a patient rang the ward’s “milestone bell” which marks a significant time in a patient’s cancer journey.

Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick was one of four locations visited on the tour. The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also toured Children’s Cancer Institute, the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.
