2017 Gold Telethon raises over $6 million!

Gold Telethon 2017 was an outstanding success, surpassing the fundraising target of $6 million! This incredible result was achieved thanks to the support of the community, patients and families, our dedicated staff and volunteers, and a very generous viewing public.

Gold Telethon is the culmination of Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation’s six-week Gold Appeal campaign. The Telethon aired on Channel Nine on Monday June 12, with an all-day broadcast to raise funds for Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

Funds raised will help purchase life-saving medical equipment, support ground-breaking research and critical frontline services across all areas of the Hospital.

Since it began eight years ago, Gold Telethon has raised more than $30 million for Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

This year, Gold Telethon celebrated the moments that make childhood special.

The broadcast at the Channel Nine studios featured a host of personalities including Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson and international celebrities from The Voice Australia, Kelly Rowland and Boy George. The Telethon included patients stories, live entertainment and music acts, a studio audience made up of patients and families, and celebrities taking donations from viewers across the state.

Live crosses to the Hospital throughout the day featured patient and staff interviews, as well as activities for families including visits from firefighters, police, minions and some furry friends from the Featherdale Wildlife Park.

The broadcast finished with the special Gold Telethon edition of Millionaire Hot Seat which added $20,000 to the total funds raised.
