New family accommodation announced
Gladys Berejiklian, Premier of NSW and Andrew Constance, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, visited The Children's Hospital at Westmead to announce funding for new family accommodation at the Hospital. The Wesley Apartments, Parramatta Mission's units for families located opposite the Hospital, will be required during the light rail construction.
So that the light rail can safely turn the corner from Hawkesbury Rd into Hainsworth St, a small part of the property is needed. New accommodation on the Hospital grounds will ensure families away from home can be accommodated without disruption. The Parramatta Light Rail project will fund the new Parramatta Mission accommodation on the Hospital grounds. When the light rail construction is complete, new Wesley Apartments will be built on the original site with the support of Transport NSW.
Parramatta Mission provides accommodation for families of children who are ill or injured. This enables families from outside Sydney to stay together during a very difficult time.
Work on Parramatta Light Rail is expected to start in 2019 and be completed in 2023.
