Friday Fast Five - Meet Buenafe Cala

Each month we interview individuals associated with the Australasian NIDCAP Training Centre and the broader NIDCAP Federation International (NFI) community, asking them five questions that explore their association with our unit and NIDCAP.

This month meet Buenafe Cala, Nurse and NIDCAP Professional, NICU/MCH Hospital, Ministry of Health Saudi Arabia.

What is your role in the neonatal setting? I work as a developmental specialist and NIDCAP Professional. Guiding 31 NICU/MCH Hospital in Saudi Arabia, including the introduction of developmental care in Saudi Arabia.

How are you involved in NIDCAP? As a NIDCAP Professional and directly with the NFI for their guidance and training.

In your opinion how does NIDCAP and neuroprotective care potentially benefit neonates, families and staff? It is highly needed to support the families and staff so we can give the best support possible.

What would you like people to know about NIDCAP and neuroprotective care? To better understand the NIDCAP process and how it is applied.By understanding NIDCAP and neuroprotective care we see the whole baby and family improving their outcomes and experience in the neonatal unit.

What do you hope NIDCAP and NIDCAP Training Centres achieve globally? I hope more people successfully hear our message and that the knowledge and influence of NIDCAP directed care will reach every nursery globally.
