There have been some big changes to the food on offer at all food outlets across the network since December.
The changes are the result of Phase Two of NSW Health’s Healthy Food in NSW Health Facilities for Staff and Visitors Framework.
Bear Bite café and The Staff Cafeteria at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead have completely overhauled their menu with some delicious new options on offer.
Food Services Supervisor Angela Burridge said some of their new Everyday items included a breakfast frittata, chicken and mushroom short soup and butter chicken.
“We are also making our own fresh juices on site daily and they are so popular, we sell out every day,” she said.
“Our old muffin supplier Bob and Pete’s is also back on board with some delicious muffins that meet the serving size requirements of the new framework.”
The Kids Plus Chemist at Westmead has also updated their menu. Manager Julie Ellinas said while the process has been difficult they were very happy with the end result.
“We have added new Everyday muesli and nut bars, flavoured tuna, noodles, cheese with crackers and flavoured teas to our range,” she said.
“We still have some confectionary available but I’ve added things that I like to eat and I know other people will like too.”
