Clinical Research Centres

Both The Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW) and Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick (SCH) have a team of dedicated research staff conducting clinical trials. They support clinicians to lead clinical trials across all stages of trial development and implementation. Research conducted at these centres look into the prevention and management of various child health areas such as rheumatology, anaesthesia, surgery, gastroenterology, immunology, endocrinology and diabetes, bone and mineral, rehabilitation, neuromuscular/genetics, neurology, general medicine, haematology and respiratory medicine, and vaccines.

The CHW team is based in The Children's Hospital at Westmead within the Clinical Research Centre (CRC). The CRC is a purpose-built clinical research facility that offers a comprehensive range of services for researchers and sponsors conducting clinical research.

The SCH team is based in the Bright Alliance building at Randwick, conducting clinical trials within appropriate clinical spaces in the neighbouring SCH. A purpose-built CRC for SCH is planned as part of current SCHN redevelopment.

Our CRCs provide patients an opportunity to participate in research studies in a safe, family-friendly environment. They complement our established clinical and research groups that conduct clinical trials, including our cancer and oncology groups, and hospital departments that integrate clinical trials in their service.
