Location: Audiology Department, Level 3, Emergency Wing, Sydney Children’s Hospital (High Street end of campus).
The Audiology Department at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick offers a full range of diagnostic services including Behavioural and Electrophysiological tests for children of all ages and developmental levels. Electrophysiological tests can be offered in natural sleep or with General Anaesthesia if appropriate.
While the Audiology team are experts in paediatric assessment, we also provide services to adult patients of the Prince of Wales Hospital.
The Audiologists are part of the Hearing Support Service, a multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to finding the cause of permanent hearing loss.
Staff can assist by providing counselling information for patients with hearing difficulties, including rehabilitation options and referral to appropriate services.
Clinic and referrals
Our Clinic is open Monday to Friday 8am-4:30pm. The Audiology Department is located on Level 3, Emergency Wing, Sydney Children’s Hospital (High Street end of campus).
All children coming to the clinic require a referral from your General Practitioner or Paediatrician.

Statewide Infant Screening Hearing (SWISH)
Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick manages the SWISH outreach hearing screening service in the maternity units of the following hospitals:
- Royal Hospital for Women
- Prince of Wales Private Hospital
- St George Public Hospital
- St George Private Hospital
- The Sutherland Hospital
- Kareena Private Hospital
- Hurstville Private Hospital
Every newborn in NSW is offered a SWISH hearing screen after birth. The service aims to identify all infants born with a suspected hearing loss and introduce them to appropriate services as soon as possible.
If required, a repeat hearing screen may be done before the baby leaves hospital. If the repeat hearing screen does not show a clear result, your baby will be referred for a diagnostic hearing assessment by an audiologist.
The SWISH Manager arranges the referral in consultation with parents, doctors, midwifery staff and the Audiology Department at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick.
