The Neurosurgery Service at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead cares for newborn babies, infants and children with hydrocephalus, cerebral tumours, spinal cord tumours, head injuries, vascular malformations of the brain, stroke, spina bifida and spinal dysraphism, Chiari malformation, syringomyelia, the surgical treatment of epilepsy and surgical management of cerebral palsy.
A full neurovascular service provides surgical as well as endovascular treatment with a dedicated interventional paediatric neuroradiologist and interventional neurovascular room able to deal with Vein of Galen malformations.
The Craniofacial Surgery Service continues to expand with the introduction of new surgical procedures, including spring cranioplasty.
