Access to Health Records held by the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network can be facilitated through the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (the HRIP Act). One of the purposes of the HRIP Act is to promote the fair and responsible handling of health information by enabling individuals to gain access to their health information.

This may be done by providing a copy of the health information or providing a reasonable opportunity to inspect and take notes from the Health Record. A Health Information Manager or a clinician must be present for this.

If you are not the patient, you will need to include written consent from the patient clearly indicating that the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network may disclose the records to you. You will be asked to apply in writing and will be charged the relevant fee.

What's My Health Record?

My Health Record is the name of the national digital health record system. Having a My Health Record means your important health information like allergies, medical conditions and treatments, medicine details, test or scan reports can be accessed through one system. Healthcare providers like doctors, specialists and hospital staff can see it online from anywhere at any time when they need to, like in an accident or emergency.

For more information, including how to access visit My Health Record FAQs.
