Interpreter service
Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick uses two interpreting services — one for interpreting in-person, the other for interpreting via telephone. If you need the help of an interpreter while in hospital, please ask a member of staff to book one in for you.
Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation gift shop
The Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation Gift Shop stocks all the essentials for a hospital stay plus newspapers, magazines, health education material and a wide range of special gifts. All profits from the shop are donated to the Sydney Children's Hospital.
The Foundation Gift Shop is located on the ground floor of the Barker Street entrance to the Randwick Campus and is open from 7.30am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday and from 9.30am-1.30pm on Saturdays.
Sunny's Cafe
Sunny's Cafe provides delicious food for the patients, parents, staff and visitors with all profits supporting Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick.
The cafe is located on Level 0 of the Hospital and is open from 6am-5pm, Monday to Friday and from 8am-2pm, Saturdays and Sundays.
Wifi
Trying to pass the time while in hospital is not always easy, which is why we are excited to announce the launch of our free guest WiFi. Patients and their families can now use the WiFi, provided by NSW Health, to stay connected and entertained during their visit.
To connect to the guest WiFi, all you need to do is:
- Make sure WiFI is selected on your smartphone, tablet, laptop or other WiFi enabled device.
- Select ‘NSW_Health_Guest_SCH’
- Follow the prompts

Pharmacy
A retail Pharmacy is located in the Barker Street Entrance Foyer, opposite the Credit Union and Chapel. The pharmacy supplies all NHS, PBS and discharge prescriptions.
The Pharmacy is open 7 days a week, Monday - Friday: 8:00am-6:00pm, Saturday - Sunday: 10:00am-4:00pm.
Home equipment lending service
The Home Equipment Lending Pool (HELP) Centre provides paediatric patients of the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick with acute or chronic conditions, access to the temporary provision of approved equipment/consumables.
Chaplaincy services
Chaplaincy Services provides Pastoral care of children, families and staff, providing a listening ear, prayer, religious and spiritual guidance, church sacraments. Anglican, Catholic, Presbyterian, Uniting Church and Salvation Army Chaplains are based at the hospital.
The Chaplaincy Service is able to assist in arranging contact with spiritual leaders of other denominations or other faiths. The Campus Chapel is located in the Barker Street Entrance Foyer, next to the Endeavour Credit Union. A prayer room is available in the adjoining Royal Hospital for Women on Level 0.
Starlight Express Room
The Starlight Express Room is a medical-free zone where kids and teens can come for some fun, including the latest computer games, movies, crafts and activities.
Patients that are unable to leave their beds can join in the fun via the daily Captain Starlight shows that are broadcast to their bedside TVs.
Join Captain Starlight for Starlight Hits in the Starlight Express Room and via Starlight TV. Starlight Hits is an interactive fun Music program.

Monday – Thursday: 10am – 8pm
Friday: 10am - 5pm
Ronald McDonald House Family Room
The Ronald McDonald Family Room at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick is a sanctuary for parents who have a child being treated at the Hospital. With the convenience and comfort of a home environment, it provides an opportunity for families, no matter where they live, to take a break from the ward, meet and spend time together in a relaxing environment. The room provides a communal kitchen, dining area, lounge room with television and children’s movies, computer, laundry, bathroom and two bedrooms for day naps. Guests can help themselves to a free cup of coffee or tea as well as make a bite to eat.
All patients must first seek permission from their nurse or Nurse Unit Manager before entering the Family Room.
To protect the health and safety of patients and families, we kindly advise that any child or adult who is unwell should not enter the Family Room. Please note that anyone with signs of illness may be politely asked to leave the Family Room.
The Family Room is located on Level 2 of the hospital, just opposite the lifts and is open from 8am-9pm, Monday to Friday and 9am-to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Child Life Therapy
The Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick Child Life Therapy Department offers education and support of patients and their families through the provision of Therapeutic Play, Medical Play, Procedural Education and Distraction Techniques.
Music Therapy addresses a child's physical, emotional, intellectual and/or social needs through the medium of music. Interventions include singing familiar songs, creative musical improvisation, distraction, songwriting and filming and editing music videos of original compositions.

Hospital school
The Sydney Children's Hospital School is a Kindergarten to Year 12 School for Specific Purposes operating within Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick and is a joint venture between the hospital and NSW Department of Education and Training. The school services patients enrolled in schools, both public and private. Siblings of patients may also attend the hospital school in consultation with the Principal. The school provides service in both primary and high school classrooms and across public, private and adult wards. Meeting the challenges of ensuring equity, continuity and normality for hospitalised students is an important focus and is fundamental to the success of all students in the school. The school has multi-staged classrooms, Kindergarten to Year 6 and Year 7 to Year 12, with additional multi-purpose rooms. A courtyard playground is used for outdoor activities and programs as well as for recess.

Public phones are available at the northern end of the main corridor on Level 0 and the Emergency Department of the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick.
