Staying overnight in your child's room

There is a parent bed in your child's room. Only one parent or carer may be allowed to stay overnight. No siblings are allowed to stay.

Accommodation can also be provided in the Parents' Hostel on Level 2 at Banksia Building.

Guidelines for staying in PICU

Learn about our expectations for all parents and carers staying overnight.

Additional guidelines for PICU:

  • Please tidy up the parent or carer bed by 8am.
  • Please use the sink near your child's bedside for handwashing only.
  • There may be instances where the child’s condition requires additional equipment or staffing, resulting in limited space within the room. If it is deemed that the parent/caregiver cannot be safely accommodated, staff will:
    • clearly communicate the situation to the parent or carer
    • help in locating an alternative overnight space within the hospital if the parent or carer wishes to remain onsite.
