2017 Gold Appeal launch
The 2017 Gold Appeal kicked off on 1 May with Gold Day – a fun-filled day of activities, food, art and music for patients, families and staff at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
To mark the launch, special guests Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson from media partner Channel Nine, along with Amanda Keller and Brendan 'Jonsey' Jones from Australian Radio Network's WSFM joined 11-year-old patient Owen, our 'Face of Telethon' to cut the gold ribbon and officially launch the annual campaign in the Hospital's Sunny’s Cafe.
Following the formalities, special guests met with patients and families and toured the Hospital which was awash with gold balloons. Emu Australia generously sponsored Gold Day and gave away animal-themed boots to patients. In keeping with the animal theme, the event featured an interactive animal art installation in the High Street foyer and MAC makeup animal face painting.
Other activities included celebrity visits, nail art, balloon twisting, live performances from Directions in Music children’s choir, a Messina Gelato ice cream cart and a BBQ for patients, families and staff.
Gold Appeal is the major fundraising campaign for Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. It culminates on June 12, with our annual Gold Telethon, an all-day broadcast of Hospital stories, live crosses and entertainment acts on Channel Nine, NBN and WIN television stations to help raise funds for the Hospital through Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation.
Don’t forget to tune in on June 12 and see all the action! In the meantime, you can keep up to date with all of the Gold Appeal activity on Facebook and find out how you can get involved by visiting: www.goldtelethon.org.au
