Westmead Redevelopment wins in hotly contested category at the Greater Sydney Commission Planning Awards

Last week the Inaugural Greater Sydney Commission Planning Awards were held. The event was to celebrate all the good things that is happening in Sydney and there were four categories to recognise excellence around the work performed in the past year.

The Westmead Redevelopment was nominated for its integrated precinct planning approach taken with our precinct partners at Westmead in the Great Integrated Planning Project category. This category recognised a team that was being seen as making a significant difference to its operating environment and strategic direction. The Westmead Redevelopment won this category and the achievement was even more notable given it was the most hotly contested category.

A plaque was presented by the new Minister for Planning, the Hon Anthony Roberts and the team was also heavily congratulated by several members of the Greater Sydney Commission including Lucy Turnbull, Commissioner of the GSC and Geoff Roberts, Deputy Commissioner of the GSC.

This achievement is a fantastic result for Westmead, it recognises that the project team's efforts to create a Precinct with all of the partners, both Government and Commercial is actually making a difference to the thinking and strategic direction of Western Sydney and the NSW economy.

Congratulation to all of those people here at the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network who have contributed to the project so far. Your work is greatly valued and genuinely driving better health, education and living outcomes for the west.
