Product recall - some specialist infant formula

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has conducted a precautionary national recall of some specialist (prescription only) EleCare, Similac and Alimentum infant formula products.

If consumed, there is a risk of microbial contamination (Cronobacter and Salmonella) which may cause illness.

The recalled products can be identified by the 7 to 9 digit code and expiration date on the bottom of the package. Full details including product images are available here.

If your child has been prescribed an affected formula product, contact your child’s specialist, GP or pharmacist for advice. Only stop feeding your child the affected product, once an alternative product has been obtained.

Read our information sheet for tips and advice on how to safely transition your child across to a new amino acid formula.

While there have been no infections linked to these products in NSW to date, monitor your child for symptoms and seek medical advice if they are unwell.
