Sally Wharton MBBS FANZCA

Medical Simulation Co-Lead - Sydney Children's Hospitals Network

Sally is a paediatric anaesthetist who has worked at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW) for 20 years.  She has a keen interest in teaching and training – as Supervisor of Training, Part II examiner and ANZCA Education Officer of NSW.  She has been involved in simulation at CHW since it first began, particularly in situ training with operating theatre staff.  She regularly facilitates simulation-based education outside the hospital at other centres, regional and national meetings.  She commenced in this position in April 2017.

Caleb Lapointe RN BNSc

Simulation Coordinator - The Children’s Hospital at Westmead

Caleb is an experienced registered nurse with a background in paediatric anaesthetics and recovery nursing.  Caleb has worked at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead for almost a decade, starting in medical respiratory before moving to perioperative services where he has been for the last 5 years.  Caleb developed a keen interest in simulation education during this time and has been involved in various programs within the hospital where he currently works as the Simulation Coordinator for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

Carolyn Smith RN, RM, MN (Clinical Practice), Grad Cert Paediatric Critical Care, Special and Intensive Care of the Newborn (ENB Course)

Simulation Coordinator- Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick  

Carolyn trained as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife in Scotland and has a background in Paediatric Intensive Care Nursing
She has worked for over 20 years at Sydney Children’s Hospital and across the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network in both clinical and education positions.
Carolyn developed an interest in simulation education during her time as the Resuscitation Training Consultant at SCH and Network Resuscitation Coordinator for the SCHN.
She commenced in the position of Simulation Coordinator at Randwick in January 2018.

Nicole Mangion RN BNSc TAE Cert IV

Network Simulation Coordinator External – Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network

Nicole is an experienced registered nurse with over 30 years’ experience and has a background in paediatric orthopaedic nursing. Nicole has been in an education role for over 10 years and has often used simulation as an education tool within the ward environment. Nicole’s current role is that of the Resus4Kids coordinator for external organisations which involves visits to other organisations to help implement and facilitate this program. She also coordinates simulation courses for staff external to the SCHN who require more education on caring for the paediatric patient. Nicole has been in this role since September 2017.

Nastassja (Tash) Walker BHSC MN, Grad Cert Crit Care

Network Simulation Coordinator External – Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network

Tash is an experienced registered nurse with over 11 years paediatric critical care experience. Tash has worked in an education role for 4 years and has a special interest in learning utilising simulation. Tash’s current role includes coordinating and facilitating Resus4Kids for external organisations. She also works closely with Nicole, coordinating simulation-based courses focussing on caring for the paediatric patient.

Teena Jose B.Tech Biomedical Engineering

Biomedical Engineer

Teena brings over 7 years of experience in the field of Biomedical Engineering.  She has worked as a Biomedical Engineer with Fortis Healthcare, India for 6 years.  During this time, Teena effectively coordinated activities for the department to include the maintenance  and evaluation of Biomedical Devices including Simulation Equipment.  She has contributed significantly to the Hospital’s JCI quality standards.  When Fortis established a new hospital for Women and Children-Fortis La Femme, Teena proceeded to head the Biomedical Engineering Project and successfully implemented the Project.  As the Biomedical Manager, she was responsible for all the services of the Biomedical Engineering Department.  Prior to Fortis, Teena also worked as Biomedical Engineer with Apollo Hospitals, India and KMCH, India for about 1 year.

Daniel Mangion Adv. Cert Electronics Engineering, Dip Marketing, TAE Cert IV

Multimedia Technician – Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick

Dan is an Electronics Technician with over 30 years of industry experience spanning communications, audio visual, medical electronics, software development and manufacturing.
Throughout his working career, he has provided engineering support, product design and development, business management, marketing and training.
Videography and photography have been a passion from an early age and Dan has incorporated multimedia into every aspect of his work.

Philip Williams BA Hons. 

Multimedia Coordinator

A graduate of the University of Western Sydney Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours),
Phil has 16 years of experience working in the education and health sectors in AV client service roles (over 10 years at CHW/SCHN)

Phil is a member of IPSS and SimGHoSTs, and has represented the Children's Hospitals Network at the International Paediatric Simulation Symposia and Workshops in 2011 and 2016, and at SimGHoSts 2016
