Information for new employees

Welcome to the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network. Congratulations on your new role.
We want to provide you with the best possible start at the Network. Our OnBoarding experience has been created to ensure you have all of the support and resources you need to guide your development at SCHN.
Let's get you started.
1. Employee number
- This is known as your Stafflink assignment number.
- Your employee number is your unique NSW Health identification number.
- This number will be used as your “user name” to access systems within the SCHN computer network.
2. Obtaining your Staff ID card
On commencement of your new role, you will need to obtain your Staff ID card, please find information on how to do this below:
Westmead campus
- Visit Workforce Services Reception, Level 4 to collect a Staff ID Slip.
- Take the Staff ID slip to Security, Level 2 (Office located inside the Main Entrance, opposite the Emergency).
- Your photo will be taken and your ID will be printed on the spot.
- ID Badge Registration (required at Westmead only)
- To register your ID badge go to the Children’s Hospital Westmead Intranet.
- Click on IT support from the menu on left hand side of the page.
- Select ‘ID badge Registration’
- It will come up with a box to enter your User Name and Password. You user name is your Employee number and password is the same as the one you have created for StaffLink.
Randwick campus
- Complete the online ID Request via the ‘Security Services’ page on the SESLHD Intranet
- Your manager will receive a notification email that they will need to print and sign by Department Head or Delegate.
- Take the signed email to the Security Services Office located in Administration 2, Building 14A opposite Ambulance Bay on Nurses Drive. Along with your photograph identification (drivers licence) to security
- (Hours of collection are 22 hours per day as passes are not produced between 12pm and 2pm daily)
- Your photo will be taken and your ID will be printed on the spot.
3. IT access
Your manager will need to send an IT access form to the IT department to request access to the IT system for SCHN. This can only be done once your Assignment status is active on the system.
4. StaffLink
StaffLink is the Oracle System NSW Health uses. You can use the Employee Self Service (ESS) on the home page of your StaffLink account to access/add/edit your personal details – for example your address, payslips, banking details, leave ect.
5. HealthShare
HealthShare is a shared service by NSW Health. All your queries regarding payroll, statement of service, separation, group certificate, salary sacrifice and superannuation should be directed to HealthShare.

6. For new managers
The People | Workforce page on the SCHN Intranet provides useful information for managing your people.
Managers will be enrolled for mandatory training online through the My Health Learning (HETI) site. It is advisable to browse through the catalogue for Management / Leadership Training on HETI, including but not limited to the below training modules:

Employee assistant program
EAP is a work-based intervention program designed to assist you in resolving work, personal and family issues that may affect your workplace performance.
We have two external independent EAP providers and both providers are available to be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can arrange counselling in a variety of locations or via telephone.

Training and development
My Health Learning (HETI) is the online training website for all SCHN employees. You will be pre-enrolled in training that we encourage you to complete within your first few months of employment.
Your login details will be same as your StaffLink login details.
10. What are my food options at work?
Children’s Hospital at Westmead
- The staff cafeteria at Westmead is located on Level 1. The menu is posted daily on the SCHN intranet.
- There is a Starbucks coffee cart located on Level 2.
- The Bear Brasserie Bear Café is located on Level 2, they serve a variety of café style meals and beverages.
- The Kidz Corner Café is located near the visitors car park.
- Bear Bite Eatery is located on Level 1 at the bottom of the ramp, they have a variety of hot foods, salads, sandwiches, sushi, drinks, fruit, snacks, some grocery items available.
Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick
- Sunny’s Café is located on Level 0 of the hospital and provides coffee and a variety of café style meals and snacks.
- Garden Café is located in the Prince of Wales Hospital (POW)on level , entry via Avoca Street.
- Hudson’s Café is located on Level 7 of the Prince of Wales PRIVATE Hospital, entry via Barker Street.
- The Forecourt Café is near Prince of Wales (POW) emergency, entry via Barker Street.
11. Staff wellbeing
The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network is committed to the ongoing health and wellbeing of all of our staff members through a variety of health initiatives.
We operate in partnership with Fitness Passport. This program will provide you and your family access to a large range of gyms and pools as often as you like for $13.95 per week for individuals and $19.95 per week for families.
