Breastfeeding rooms
Breastfeeding at Randwick
A breastfeeding room is located on Level 0 in Building C, opposite the Outpatients Department.
To gain access to this room please ask nursing staff on your ward or in the Outpatients Department.
A breast pump is also available. You will need to provide your own consumables, for example, for tubing and bottle.
A parent room is also available on Level 0, south west wing, opposite the Respiratory Department.
Breastfeeding at Westmead
There are 2 breastfeeding rooms at Westmead, located on:
- Level 2 at the Banksia Building, just around the corner from the Volunteer's Shop
- the emergency waiting room.
A lactation nurse specialist is also available to help parents who are having difficulties with breastfeeding or formula feeding. You can ask to speak with the lactation nurse specialist if you need support.
Formula
If your baby is formula fed, the hospital can provide S26, S26 Progress, S26 LF and Infasoy.
Please note that for health and safety reasons, parents are not allowed to prepare infant formulas on the ward. Staff in the formula room will make the formula for your baby.
Changing tables
Changing tables at Randwick
Baby change tables are located in:
- the accessible toilets on Levels 1, 2 and 3 in Building C
- the parent room on Level 0 in Building C (south west wing – opposite the Respiratory Department).
Changing tables at Westmead
Changing tables can be found at Changing Places facilities.
Changing Places locations:
- Level 1, Banksia Building: includes a toilet, hoist and adult size change table with enough room for 2 carers.
- Level 2 and 3, Wattle Building: includes a toilet, hoist and adult size change table with enough room for 2 carers.
Families need to use a swipe pass to access the rooms. This can be obtained from:
- Security, Level 2, Wattle Building
- Enquiries desk and Outpatients front desk, Banksia Building
- Orthopaedic clinic and physio clinic on Level 2, Banksia Building
- Social work unit on Level 1, Banksia Building
- Kids Rehab on Level 3, Banksia Building.
