Most common diseases that can cause damage to your liver:

• Extrahepatic Biliary Atresia
• Alpha-1-Antitrypsin Deficiency
• Wilson’s Disease 

There are other reasons children may need a liver transplant such as Inborn Errors of Metabolism, Acute Liver Failure and Alagille Syndrome. 

How sick you get depends on what is wrong with your liver. Sometimes, the only way to get better is to get a new liver. This is called a transplant.
