Syndromes
An epilepsy syndrome refers to a cluster of features incorporating seizure types, EEG, and imaging features that tend to occur together. It often has age-dependent features such as age at onset and remission (where applicable), seizure triggers, diurnal variation, and sometimes prognosis.

- Childhood Absence Epilepsy (CAE) east
- Dravet syndrome east
- Febrile seizures east
- Generalized Tonic Clonic Seizures alone east
- Infantile Spasms syndrome east
- Juvenile Absence Epilepsy (JAE) east
- Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy (JME) east
- Lennox Gastaut Syndrome (LGS) east
- Myoclonic Atonic Epilepsy (Doose Syndrome) east
According to the NICE Guideline: Epilepsies in children, young people and adults:
The seizure type(s) and epilepsy syndrome, aetiology, and co-morbidity should be determined.
If there is diagnostic uncertainty, individuals should be referred to tertiary services soon (within 4 weeks) for further assessment.
