About our service

We offer general immunisation services, including routine, catch-up and additional immunisations including seasonal flu, RSV, COVID-19 and BCG immunisations. 

We provide specialist services for children with complex needs including those who have experienced an adverse event following immunisation.

We have a dedicated service for Aboriginal families at La Perouse Aboriginal Health Centre.

Referral process for clinicians

Our department is using Consultmed to manage referrals. The Consultmed platform allows health professionals to send e-referrals to us securely.

  • Please complete the request for BCG vaccination online form: Request for BCG vaccination - Tuberculosis (nsw.gov.au)
  • There is limited availability for BCG vaccinations in NSW Health clinics. We recommend submitting a request 4-6 months before travel.
  • BCG requests are processed by your local BCG Clinic. 

Specialist immunisation clinic (Clinician led)

  • To make an appointment at our clinic, you will need a referral from your GP, paediatrician or specialist
  • Our department uses Consultmed to manage referrals. Your referring clinician sends the e-referral to us using the secure Consultmed platform. 
  • Once we receive the referral, we will send you an email with your tracking information. We will update you as we process the referral and book your appointment.
  • To receive these updates, please ask your referring clinician to include your email on the referral.

Tuberculosis (BCG) immunisation

  • BCG requests are processed by your local BCG Clinic. You should receive a response within 10 working days, usually by email or phone. Please check your spam or junk folders.
  • If your local BCG Clinic is Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, enquiries can be made via Email: SCHN-Randwick-BCGclinic@health.nsw.gov.au

Specialist immunisation clinic (Clinician led)

The clinic provides assessment and management of children and adolescents who have experienced a previous adverse event following immunisation, or who have an underlying medical condition or allergy which may indicate the need for supervision during immunisation.  

Please bring your Blue Book to record your child's immunisation status.

The clinic also offers advice and discussion for children and parents concerned about vaccines and adverse events. 

Location

  • Outpatients Department, Level 0, Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick

Clinic days 

  • Monday afternoons, on a fortnightly basis.

Urgent cases will be referred through the Emergency Department. 

General immunisation clinic (Nurse led)

The clinic provides:

  • Routine, catch-up and additional immunisations for existing outpatients of Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network who are attending the facility for another appointment, and their siblings
  • An influenza immunisation program for outpatient children and their household members - eligibility determined in consultation with NSW Health
  • Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) immunisation for eligible children
  • Immunisation for vulnerable children from the community who are unable to access immunisation in primary care
  • BCG immunisation (alternate Mondays). We do not accept direct referrals or walk-ins for BCG
  • Aboriginal Outreach Immunisation Clinic at the La Perouse Aboriginal Health Centre (alternate Tuesdays).

We focus on reaching children with chronic illness or disability, and from priority populations.

Fees

  • General immunisation services are free for Medicare card holders, excluding travel vaccines.
  • Vulnerable non-Medicare eligible families may be immunised without charge in certain circumstances. 

If you are a professional looking after a vulnerable family, please call ahead.

Opening hours

  • 9am – 4pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays and Christmas closures).

  • The General Immunisation Clinic is located at the Children’s Outpatient Department, Level 0 at the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
  • BCG clinics occur in the Children’s Outpatient Department, Level 0 at the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick Monday fortnightly.
  • Aboriginal Outreach Immunisation Clinic is located at the La Perouse Aboriginal Community Health Centre.

La Perouse childhood immunisation and flu clinic

We provide childhood immunisations to Aboriginal children and seasonal influenza immunisations for the whole family.

Drop-in or make an appointment to see the nurses for advice and to receive immunisations at La Perouse.

The NSWISS advisory service provides specialist immunisation advice for clinicians and providers across NSW.
