Services for Aboriginal families
Aboriginal Health Workers play a vital role in our hospital for the care, connection and trust they provide. They walk beside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families.
Aboriginal Health Workers offer medical support and cultural advocacy. They help families understand complex medical information and ensure their cultural needs are respected. Their work helps bridge the gap between hospital care and community life, providing children with ongoing support and connection.

The Aboriginal Children’s Memorial Garden at Westmead
The Aboriginal Children’s Memorial Garden is located in the grassed area near the eucalypt trees within the Children’s Garden. It was designed by Aboriginal people as a place of cultural importance.
The garden provides a peaceful place away from the hospital building that can be visited by children, families and hospital staff. Read more about our gardens.
