About our service

Our service offers a paediatric nutrition and dietetic service, including:

  • nutritional assessment and dietary counselling
  • education on breastfeeding and healthy nutrition for infants, children and adolescents
  • provision of special diets, enteral and infant formulas.

Referral process for clinicians

Our department is using Consultmed to manage referrals. The Consultmed platform allows health professionals to send e-referrals to us securely.

Please ensure the child’s growth measurements have been completed prior to placing a referral including a recent weight, length/height, and head circumference where possible. 

Referrals are triaged based on the department’s Inpatient Prioritisation Tool.

Referral and appointment process for parents and carers

Request a referral

To make an appointment at our clinic, you will need a referral from your GP, paediatrician or specialist. 

They will assess your child, discuss your concerns, and make a referral to the appropriate service.  

Please ensure the child’s growth measurements have been completed prior to placing a referral including a recent weight, length/height, and head circumference where possible. 

Track your referral

Our department uses Consultmed to manage referrals. Your referring clinician sends the e-referral to us using the secure Consultmed platform.  

Once we receive the referral, we will send you an email with your tracking information. We will update you as we process the referral and book your appointment. 

To receive these updates, please ask your referring clinician to include your email on the referral.

Clinic information

Our outpatient services include: 

  • Coeliac Group Educationheld monthly.
  • Weight Management clinics: held weekly.
  • Feeding and Nutrition Support Service (FaNSS)Held at a convenient time for families and carers Monday – Friday between 8am and 4.30pm. A referral from a Hospital medical officer or paediatrician with admitting rights to the Hospital is required.

Our staff attend and consult with Allergy, BMT, Cystic Fibrosis, Diabetes, Dysphagia, Feeding, Gastroenterology, IBD, Ketogenic, Lipid, Liver, Oncology, PKU/Metabolic, Retts, Renal and TPN clinics.

We provide:

  • a resource for health professionals and the general public
  • training for nutrition and dietetic students.
