Vaping and nicotine resources toolkit

The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN) has worked with our clinicians to produce the following resources to be shared.

Vaping products contain a number of chemicals and toxic substances which can be harmful to the user, and those around them.  Vapes pose danger to children and young people in many ways, including lung damage, nicotine poisoning, burns from the device and addiction.

Young people are being affected more directly by vape use and are being targeted by the tobacco industry.

Help us spread the Network's safety and prevention messages to improve the health and wellbeing of NSW children and young people.

The resources below are free to use and share widely on social media and other digital platforms of community and health organisations. This includes schools, daycares, medical clinics, public health networks, Local Health Districts, NGOs and community centres.

For further resources related to vaping please visit NSW Health Vaping toolkit page.

Nic-Sick is a result of excessive nicotine intake and it’s affects on the body. As the nicotine content in vaping products isn’t always clear or consistent, it can increase the chance of becoming Nic-Sick. This can result in nausea, dizziness, feeling anxious, a loss of appetite and can even be fatal for children.

If you suspect your child is suffering symptoms of Nic-Sick, call HealthDirect on 1800 022 222 or Triple Zero (000) in an Emergency.
