Travel immunisations
Travelling abroad isn’t free of risk. It is important to seek pre-travel advice and check vaccinations requirements before leaving Australia.
Even if you and your family are heading back to a familiar country or country of origin, prepare by getting required vaccinations and medications, and take any other appropriate precautions. For more information, visit the Smart Traveller website before you travel.
Book in with your doctor for travel advice and any vaccinations a few months in advance of travel dates.
Young children are at increased risk of travel-associated infectious diseases such as:
- hepatitis A
- COVID-19
- malaria
- typhoid
- yellow fever
- tuberculosis (TB)
- influenza (flu).
Keep your kids safe when travelling abroad, especially when visiting high-risk countries. Visit the Outdoor Safety – Travel Safety page for more information.
