From magnificent mountain ranges to spectacular sunsets, artworks lining the corridors of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW) are transporting patients and their families to the great landscapes of the world.
Artworks from 119 entrants in the Department of Adolescent Medicine’s Youth Arts Program's Annual Art Competition, this year themed ‘Great Lands’ are once again on display in the corridors of CHW.
The 2023 competition brings together artworks from children through to adults, with beautiful displays showcasing the creative talents of our hospital community.
Congratulations to 16-year-old Julian Ianni, the overall competition winner for 2023 for his imaginative artwork titled ‘The Shameful Beach’, created using rubbish and waste collected from local beaches. Through his artwork, Julian calls us to be mindful of our impact on the local environment and accountable for our actions as individuals.
Competition winners were announced at a small gathering on Monday, 17 April, where place winners were gifted with prize bags and all entrants received a bag of goodies for their efforts in brightening up the walls for our hospital community. A big congratulations to all the competition winners and runners up, and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who submitted an artwork.
The artworks will be on display until July 2023, providing patients and visitors with the opportunity to stop and marvel at the creativity and talents of entrants as they transport their minds and senses to breathtaking landscapes around the world.
