Introduction

The overhead elbow bend and straighten exercise is a part of post-operative exercise plan to help with orthopaedic recovery and rehabilitation.

Exercise guide

Lie down on your back

Link your hands together

Linking your hands helps your unaffected side control the movement of your affected side.

A person lying down with hands linked, arms overhead and elbow bent at 90 degrees.

Lift your arms overhead with your elbow bent at 90 degrees.

Bend your affected elbow towards your shoulder

Straighten your elbow

Repeat

The doctor or physiotherapist will advise how frequently your child should perform this exercise.
