Cardiac Inpatient Unit
The Cardiac Inpatient Unit (formerly known as Edgar Stephen Ward) is a cardiology and cardiothoracic ward caring for babies and young patients who require medical and surgical management of cardiac arrhythmias, structural cardiac defects, heart failure and heart transplant.
Staff on the unit are skilled in caring for children with heart problems and can help you along your journey with any information you may need.

Unit access
The Cardiac Inpatient Unit is locked 24 hours a day. For the safety of children and families, staff will open the door for you to enter or leave the ward.
If you are staying with your child overnight, you need to be listed on our register. Sometime in the afternoon or evening, one of our staff will come around and ask if anyone is staying with your child overnight.
