Resources for a first seizure
Every child who presents with a first afebrile seizure should be given a first seizure pack.
The first seizure pack contains important information for families. The first seizure pack includes:
- General safety
- Seizure first aid
- An event record for families to document any additional seizures
- A PENNSW flyer.
Our video below also explains what happens after the first seizure, with information on supervision and safety.
Important note: The education video relates to a first afebrile seizure (that is, seizure without fever). It is NOT for febrile convulsions. The video includes general advice only, and does not take into account individual medical conditions or needs.
