Liver transplant handbook

A liver transplant can be a worrying and stressful time for your child and your family. 

This handbook has been put together by the Liver Transplant Unit at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead to help you understand what to expect and feel more prepared for your child’s transplant journey.

The handbook explains what happens before, during and after a liver transplant. It covers the hospital team, the transplant surgery, recovery, medicines, rejection and life after transplant.

We hope this handbook helps you and your child feel informed and supported, and gives you the information you need to ask questions and know what to expect along the way.
