About our service
An 'outpatient' is a patient who is visiting the hospital for diagnosis or treatment but are not staying in the hospital.
Services for outpatients include:
- attending consultations with specialist medical practitioners
- having tests or other procedures, or,
- having allied health services like physiotherapy.
At outpatients, your child receives specialised care. At your appointment we communicate the results, progress and next steps with you and share these with your local doctor.
We also offer an immunisation clinic so your child can have their catch-up or planned immunisations while you're here for other appointments.
Referral process for clinicians
Outpatient services use Consultmed to manage referrals. The Consultmed platform allows health professionals to send e-referrals to us securely.
The referral process may vary depending on the clinic or service you are referring to.

Referral and appointment process for parents and carers
Upload a referral
To make an appointment at an outpatient clinic, you will need a referral from your GP, paediatrician or specialist.
If you have a referral, you can upload it to the Consultmed secure portal.
Track your referral
Once we receive the referral, we will send you an email with your tracking information. We will update you as we process the referral and book your appointment.
To receive these updates, please ask your referring clinician to include your email on the referral.
If your clinician has questions about Consultmed or require technical support, they can contact helpdesk@consultmed.co.

Your child's height and weight may be measured and recorded. This is part of a NSW Health initiative to encourage increased awareness around healthy weights in children.
