In an Australian-first for children, doctors have used a new technology to perform a minimally invasive cardiac procedure on two children at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
When eight-month-old Eli was left struggling to breathe, doctors initially suspected common childhood illness like croup and bronchiolitis. Instead, this marked the beginning of what would be a challenging cancer journey.
At 65 metres – the newest building at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is now full height. The Paediatric Services Building will feature critical and acute paediatric healthcare services, including cancer services, a statewide burns service, a surgical short-stay unit, and intensive care units.
