The new Wattle Building
Wattle Building overview
A 14-storey building designed to enhance paediatric inpatient care and accommodate future growth.
Inpatient beds
Upon opening, the total number of inpatient beds in the Wattle Building will remain consistent with the current ward bed numbers.
There will be some changes to how beds in some wards are configured when we move to the new building to streamline patient journeys and ensure patients can have a ‘home ward.’
Operating theatres
No additional operating theatres will be available upon opening. We will grow into the Wattle Building gradually.
Patient rooms
The building will include over 90% single patient rooms equipped with a parent bed and ensuite.
Cold shell floor
Level 6 will not be operational when Wattle Building opens. We will grow into the new building and fit-out this floor with future funding.
