Casual nursing recruitment

The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick each have a casual nursing pool to cover roster short falls due to unplanned leave and increased staffing needs due to ward activity. This is to ensure appropriate staffing and skill mix for the delivery of high quality, safe patient care. For those nurses requiring a high level of employment flexibility due to varying availability to work, casual pool is a great option.

Nursing staff employed on the casual pool work across the hospital in all areas as required and in consideration of their own prior experience and skills. There is dedicated nursing education support for the casual nurses to develop their own skills and knowledge. Opportunity to move to permanent employment is also available if the nurse’s personal circumstances enable commitment to regular employment.

The nursing casual pool employs Assistants in Nursing, Enrolled Nurses and Registered Nurses. A separate critical care nursing pool is also available to suitably experienced nurses.
