Process before applying

If you are an internationally qualified nurse and are interested in working at the Sydney Children Hospital's Network, it is important you review the important information about immigration to Australia, and registration and employment as a nurse in Australia.

To work as a nurse or midwife in Australia, you need to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)

Visas

You will need to have Australian work rights to commence employment with the Sydney Children’s Hospitals’ Network. Information on the various work visas and application requirements is available on the Department of Home Affairs website at Working in Australia (homeaffairs.gov.au) 

Immunisation requirements

Nursing applicants must provide documentary evidence of compliance with NSW Health staff immunisation requirements prior to commencing employment at the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network for a variety of infectious diseases.

These include:

  • Diptheria, Tetanus and Pertusis
  • Hepatitis B
  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Tuberculosis
  • Influezna
  • COVID-19

You will be provided with an assessment tool to be completed during your recruitment journey which will specify the vaccinations and serology evidence required. The records provided by you must be legible and provided in English for us to clear your occupational health assessment.
