Dental care

Normalise brushing twice a day and allowing your child to control the speed and pressure and encouraging them to communicate with you when they have pain or oral blisters.

Dental care is important in all children with EB. Blistering does occur in the mouth and the use of an extra soft, children’s-sized toothbrush will make brushing more comfortable.

The dental team at Prince of Wales Hospital is located on the same site as Sydney Children Hospital, Randwick. Staff are  experienced in working with children with EB.

We can refer you to the dental team or you can see your local dentist if you prefer. Early referral along with regular visits to your dentist for professional cleaning and fluoride treatments is highly recommended for prevention of dental cavities.

EB support and education can be made to your dentist. If you require dental surgery, please contact the EB clinic as we can provide procedural and anaesthetic support for your child on the day.
