REACH in ED at The Children's Hospital at Westmead
REACH in ED
You know your child best. If you’re worried your child is getting worse, we will start our REACH in ED process.
We will listen and respond. We care.
Speak to a staff member in your area
They will respond to your concerns and do an assessment of your child.
Ask for a Nurse-in-charge
The Nurse-in-charge will respond to your concerns and do an assessment of your child with a Senior Doctor.
Ask a Nurse to activate a REACH call
A senior member of the hospital will provide assistance.
If you are already in a bed space and need help immediately, please press the red Emergency button at the bedside.
REACH in ED is an easy-to-use system for patients and their families to escalate their concerns with staff about worrying changes in a patient’s condition.
Once patients are admitted to a ward, they can use REACH by the bedside.
The REACH initiative was developed by consumers with the NSW Clinical Excellence Commission.
