The Children's Hospital at Westmead has a number of onsite services and places to eat, for the convenience of families, staff and visitors. You can also read more about food and nutrition in hospital and guidelines for bringing food into the hospital. 

Bear Bite Eatery

The Bear Bite Eatery has a variety of hot foods, salads, sandwiches, sushi, drinks, fruit, snacks, some grocery items, newspapers, magazines and Telstra phone cards (including Phone Away cards).

The Bear Bite Eatery is located on Level 1 at the bottom of the ramp and is open 7 days a week, 08.00am - 8.00pm Monday - Friday, 08.30am - 7.30pm Weekends & Public holidays.

Bear Brasserie Café

Bear Brasserie cafe provides delicious gourmet style food and beverages with a café setting without having to leave the hospital.

Bear Brasserie is located on Level 2 at the end of the Galleria and is open Monday - Friday: 7.30am - 7.00pm & Saturdays: 7.30am - 2.00pm.

Kidz Corner Café

The Kidz Corner Café provides a variety of café style meals, sandwiches, beverages and confectionery.

They are located on Hainsworth Street near the visitors car park and are open on Monday - Friday: 7.30am - 3.00pm.

Starbucks

Starbucks specialises in coffee and other beverages, also has a selection off desserts and snacks and some Starbucks merchandise for sale.

Starbucks is located on level 2 near the Main entrance and is open 7 days a week, Monday - Friday: 6.00am - 11.00pm, Saturday: 6.30am - 10.30pm, Sunday: 6.30am - 10pm.

Wi-Fi

Trying to pass the time while in hospital is not always easy. Patients and their families can now use the Wi-Fi, provided by NSW Health, to stay connected and entertained during their visit.

Television - My Health Memory

TV, including Foxtel, access to the internet, including social media and Skype, games and on demand movies are available in an integrated bedside system, free of charge.

My Health Memory also provides new ways to communicate as well as education to support your child' health. In the future this system will enable key health information to be shared between families and clinical teams.

The volunteers' snack trolley

A variety of snacks and drinks can be purchased from the Volunteers Snack Trolley which visits all wards every weekday morning (except on Public Holidays).

Vending machines

Snacks, drinks and other items such as toiletries are available from vending machines located throughout the hospital.

Starlight Express Room

Sibling Care Centre

For a small fee, the Sibling Care Centre can provide child-minding services by trained volunteers for the brothers and sisters of children who are in Hospital, the Emergency Department or are at a clinic appointment.

The Sibling Care Centre is open

10am to 2pm most weekends

closes on Christmas Eve and re-opens at the beginning of February each year.

Hospital pharmacy

The Hospital Pharmacy dispenses hospital prescribed medications for inpatients and some outpatients. The Hospital Pharmacy on Level 2 (near the Parents' Hostel) is open Monday to Friday from 9am -4.30pm.

Laundry

A coin-operated laundry is available for parents to use. It is located on Level 1 at the far end of the corridor. You will need $1 coins for the washing and drying machines, and $2 coins for the washing powder dispenser.

Banking services

A 24-hour Multi-card ATM, Westpac ATM and ANZ atm are located on Level 2.

Chemist shop

Kids Plus Chemist is open from 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. It offers a full pharmacy service, gifts, personal items, stamps and 'phoneaway cards'. It is located next to the Volunteers Shop on Level 2 and the phone number is (02) 9689 2999 or extension 50551 from within the Hospital.

Chaplain and worship rooms

The Quiet Room is for prayer, reflection, meditation and services of worship. It is open 24 hours. Hospital prayers, to which all are invited, are conducted in the Quiet Room each weekday morning at 10 am. Mass is conducted at 12.30pm each Friday.

Chaplains may be contacted through the Switch Tel: 02 9845 0000 during normal hours, and are available in emergencies outside these hours. Each Ward has details of the chaplains routinely visiting there. The chaplains brochures are available in each ward.

Sacraments, eg baptism, are available on request.

Breastfeeding rooms

Comfortable baby change rooms that can also be used  for breastfeeding are available on Level 2.

Changing Place for adult-sized and disabled children 

The Changing Place facility meets the needs of families whose severely disabled children are adult sized. This facility is the first of its kind installed in an accredited Australian hospital. Located on Level One, it includes a toilet, hoist and adult size change table, with enough room for two carers.

Families need to use a swipe pass to access the room. These can be obtained from Security, Enquiries, Outpatients front desk, Orthopaedic Clinic and Physio Clinic  on Level Two (entry level), from Bear Bite and Social Work on Level One and  and Kids Rehab on Level Three.
