Psychosocial service

Psychosocial service

The diagnosis and treatment of childhood cancer affects the entire family. The psychosocial team helps children, adolescents, families and carers process their feelings and manage difficult behaviours and challenges.

Cancer patients require emotional and behavioural support when having treatment. The psychosocial service tailors treatment to the needs and concerns of each child. This is called psychosocial oncology.

What we do

  • psychological services to address mental health and behavioural difficulties
  • social work services to assist daily life challenges
  • play and music therapies to distract from procedures and improve quality of life
  • educational services to keep children linked with their home schools.
